After two years of development a significant new release of the lightweight window manager (the first release in the 1.5.x branch). The 1.5 branch continues the development of an unofficial fork that diverged in December 2015 from the abandoned IceWM codebase. The code is written in C and is licensed under GPLv2.
Among the features of IceWM, full management via keyboard shortcuts, the ability to use virtual desktops, taskbars, and application menus can be noted. The window manager is configured through a rather simple configuration file and allows the use of themes. Built-in applets for monitoring CPU, memory, and traffic are available. Several third-party GUIs for configuration, desktop implementations, and menu editors are being developed separately.
Key Changes:
- The ability to change settings through the menu has been implemented. A graphical configurator for screen settings has been added, allowing changes to RandR settings;
- A new menu generator has been added;
- The implementation of the system tray has been improved. The ability to customize the order of button display in the tray has been added;

- Support for both vertical and horizontal placement of the Quickswitch block has been ensured;
- Support for composite managers has been added;
- The address bar now maintains a history of previously used commands;
- The mode has been enabled by default

- An option FocusCurrentWorkspace has been added for selecting alternative behavior when setting focus. The ability to change focus model without restarting has been implemented. Support for changing focus and desktops using the mouse wheel has been added;
- For themes, an option TaskbuttonIconOffset has been implemented, which is used in the Outside-ice theme.
