After a year of development the release of an independent lightweight Linux distribution , developed since 2001 according to the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle and at experienced users. The aim of the project is to create a simple and transparent distribution for users, based on BSD-like initialization scripts, with a maximally simplified structure and containing a relatively small number of precompiled binary packages. CRUX supports a ports system that allows easy installation and updating of applications in the style of FreeBSD/Gentoo. The size , prepared for the x86-64 architecture, is 644 MB.
In the new release, the Linux-PAM package has been included in the core, providing the use of the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) mechanism for organizing authentication in the system. The use of PAM allows users to implement features such as two-factor authentication for system login. Various components have been migrated from autotools to new build systems.
