More fire, less fox — Mozilla has updated the Firefox logo

Mozilla introduced a new logo for the Firefox browser and its associated services, as well as related projects. This is said to create a single recognizable brand for the entire family of products. As part of the rebranding, a basic color scheme, a custom font, and separate logos for the services have been developed.

At the same time, the developers have abandoned clear references to the fox in the logos of Firefox Send (the file transfer service), Firefox Lockwise (the password storage system), and Firefox Monitor (which tracks leaks and alerts users). They are tied to a common style at the color combination level.

As noted, Mozilla began preparing for the redesign as early as the summer of 2018. At that time, the company asked users to choose one of the proposed styles for redesigning the logo and icons. It is currently not stated when the new Firefox logo will be put into use, but it is clear that this will happen in one of the future updates of the browser.

Note that previously the company announced announced the appearance of paid services called Firefox Premium. It promises cloud storage and a VPN. Meanwhile, the same Opera (and the gaming version Opera GX) have a built-in free and unlimited VPN by default. Apparently, the new services are aimed solely at fans of the "fox" browser.

It is currently unclear how much Firefox Premium will cost, but it is evident that the redesign of the logo and its adaptation along with others to a common style is part of a business strategy.
