The programming school continues to develop in the village. . Recently, we completed a complete overhaul of the web development course, which is now available in an online format.
To compile the theoretical materials, we applied an unusual solution — all of them are combined into an interactive graph, which conveniently serves as a roadmap for those studying web development. The materials are interconnected and include exercises for writing code in addition to just the theory.
Learning Concept
We believe that during learning, a person constantly switches between two modes — the mode of building a general picture and the mode of diving into the details of a specific entity.
In the course lessons, we focus on the first mode — the lesson contains only general information that helps build a 'world picture.' A lesson can be read without delving into details — and only after grasping the general picture, one can start to explore specific materials.
The theoretical materials are presented in the course as excerpts. Clicking on this excerpt transfers the student to the second mode — they fully concentrate on mastering specific material, without delving into its role in the theme of this lesson.
In addition to the explanation itself, the materials contain special exercises — coding exercises to reinforce this material in practice.
All materials are interconnected by arrows — similar to a technology tree in strategy games. This greatly aids in mastering complex materials that rely on other foundational knowledge. If a student faces difficulties in understanding, they can revert to more fundamental material at any time and immediately review it — rather than searching for missing knowledge throughout the course structure.
This extraction of theoretical materials from lessons provides an additional opportunity. Students with basic initial knowledge can construct their own learning path and navigate through this map of materials, marking their progress with a special button.

Practical assignments
Despite this additional opportunity, we believe it is more appropriate to go through the materials in the sequence outlined in the lessons. In addition to forming a general picture, the lessons have another important feature – practical assignments.
To master web development, it is not enough to simply study a set of individual materials and technologies – you need to learn to connect them into a whole in larger projects. Practical assignments represent such projects, increasing in complexity from lesson to lesson and covering an ever-growing number of materials.
Practical assignments are completed in external sandboxes and are manually checked by the instructor. The instructor not only checks the correctness of the work but also pays attention to typical stylistic issues – code formatting, variable naming, etc. – which are better corrected at the earliest stage of the developer's growth.

In addition to checking practical assignments, the instructor plays another important role.
No matter how well the material is explained, there are times when questions arise during the learning process that are not always easy to find answers to independently.

Camp
Getting consultations via chat is not always convenient. It is much easier to ask in person – this allows for answers to be received much faster, while also resolving other related questions that may arise during the conversation. Our practice shows that with in-person instructor support, progress through the course occurs significantly faster.
For this, we have a summer programming camp operating in our settlement. Students live in tents, but the camp has a building with a comfortable terrace for classes and restrooms, high-speed WiFi is provided, and hot meals are delivered (a café will open soon).
