Mozilla developers In the nightly builds of Firefox, the ability to play Flash content by default will be removed. Starting with Firefox 69, scheduled for September 3, the Adobe Flash Player plugin settings will eliminate the option for persistent activation of Flash, leaving only the options to disable Flash and to enable it for specific sites (activation by explicit click) without remembering the selected mode. In the ESR branches, Flash support will continue until the end of 2020.
A similar decision to discontinue Flash support was previously made by Google and will be implemented in Chrome 76. The phased discontinuation of Flash support is in accordance with the previously plan by Adobe to phase out support for the Flash technology in 2020. Flash remains the last NPAPI plugin that continued to be supported in Firefox after the NPAPI API became deprecated. Support for Silverlight, Java, Unity, Gnome Shell Integration, and NPAPI plugins with multimedia codec support was discontinued back in Firefox 52, released in 2016.
