Sberbank launched a service on June 25 for money transfers from credit cards to debit cards among its clients. Currently, it is available in the web version of the Sberbank Online app, and later this feature will also be available to users of the mobile app, RBC reports, citing the bank's press service.
Instant money transfers from Sberbank's credit cards to debit cards can be made using the phone number or card number. The same commission applies as for cash withdrawals at ATMs — 3%, but at least 390 rubles. The commission amount does not depend on the region where the service is provided.
Sberbank also reported that the interest-free period, which is up to 50 days for all Sberbank credit cards, does not apply to transfers of credit funds. When sending money, the sender will have to pay interest on the credit immediately.
As believed by Alma Obaeva, chair of the National Payment Council, this service may help Sberbank reduce ATM maintenance costs, as some clients will stop using them for transferring money from a credit card to a debit card.
According to Sergey Grishunin, senior manager of the risk management department at Deloitte, the new service will gain popularity only if the commission is canceled and a preferential interest rate is offered.
