release of the Live distribution (Network Security Toolkit) 30-11210, designed for network security analysis and monitoring its operation. The size of the bootable (x86_64) is 3.6 GB. A special repository has been prepared for Fedora Linux users, allowing the installation of all developments created within the NST project on an already installed system. The distribution is based on Fedora 28 and allows the installation of additional packages from external repositories compatible with Fedora Linux.
The distribution includes a large collection related to network security (for example: Wireshark, NTop, Nessus, Snort, NMap, Kismet, TcpTrack, Etherape, nsttracroute, Ettercap, etc.). A special web interface has been prepared to manage the security checking process and automate the invocation of various utilities, which also integrates a web front-end for the Wireshark network analyzer. The graphical environment of the distribution is based on FluxBox.
In the new release:
- The package base is synchronized with Fedora 30. The Linux kernel 5.1 is used;
- The NST WUI web interface has added support for displaying locations for photos and videos with corresponding geotags. Information is extracted using the ExifTool utility and visually displayed on the NST Mapping map. Location determination can be initiated through the NST WUI Directory Browser file manager, which also provides indicators for the presence of geotags in files;
- The nstnetcfg utility has been completely redesigned to work with the Network Manager service and now supports the attachment of additional IPv4 and IPv6 addresses;
- A page has been added to the web interface for finding all domains hosted on the specified web server, using the service ;
- A page has been added to the web interface with an interface to invoke the utility
HtmlDump with ExifTool for parsing Exif metadata in images; - To simulate location determination by IP, the GeoLite2 Country CSV (WhoIs) database has been included;
- A new implementation of the NST Shell Administration console menu has been introduced.
