Jolla Company Release of Sailfish OS 3.1. Builds are prepared for devices Jolla 1, Jolla C, Sony Xperia X, Gemini, and are now available as an OTA update. Sailfish uses a graphical stack based on Wayland and Qt5 libraries, with the system environment built on Mer, which has been available since April. as part of Sailfish, and packages from the Mer distribution Nemo. The user interface, core mobile applications, QML components for building graphical interfaces with Silica, the layer for running Android applications, smart text input engine, and data synchronization system are proprietary, but their code was planned to be open-sourced back in 2017.

- The messaging app has revamped the conversation thread design, added a header with recipient data, and implemented support for saving or editing entries in the address book without leaving the app.
- The People address book has been redesigned, separating sections for searching, viewing, and editing contacts. The contact list has been reorganized in alphabetical order.
- The interface for making and receiving calls has been revamped, divided into three tabs: Dialer, History, and People. The dialer has been optimized for use with one hand while holding the phone. Both simple and advanced call history viewing modes have been added. A button for quickly sending a predefined message has been added to the incoming call dialog;
- The layer for running Android applications has been improved, with fingerprint authentication now available by default, TLS 1.2 enabled by default, and the ability to add contacts from Android applications (such as WhatsApp) to the People app. Issues with launching WhatsApp and Telegram have been resolved;
- The Bluetooth stack Bluez has been updated to version 5.50.
