LG Electronics (LG) has announced that its 2019 model year ThinQ AI TV 'smart' televisions will begin receiving an update on July 25, providing support for Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit.
The AirPlay technology allows users to stream videos, photos, music, and other content from Apple devices directly to a large television screen. Users will be able to share content from iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers to LG televisions.
As for HomeKit support, it will enable remote control of LG televisions via Apple devices—using the Home App or through the smart assistant Siri. However, only basic functions will be available, such as turning the TV on/off, adjusting the volume, and selecting the input source.
The update will be available for LG TVs in the OLED TV, NanoCell TV, and UHD TV series of the ThinQ AI generation. Users in over 140 countries worldwide will be able to download the update.
