There were rumors once that Microsoft was preparing a Windows 10 Home Ultra build for enthusiasts. However, those turned out to be just dreams. There is still no special version. But, as , it may appear in a Windows 10 Pro edition.
The Pro version filled the gap between Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Home, however, it is more geared towards system administrators rather than home users. Features like BitLocker and RDP are important for them, not for enthusiasts. But the recent changes in 'the ten' indicate that it is indeed possible.
As is known, the operating system from Redmond has introduced the Windows Sandbox 'sandbox', which is essentially the virtual machine, built into the system, allowing Windows to run within Windows. Moreover, it is specifically integrated into Windows 10 Pro. It is logical to assume that in the future other technologies related to virtualization and more may also appear there.
In addition to the 'sandbox', it is worth mentioning the Windows Device Application Guard (WDAG) technology, which isolates the Edge browser from the main operating system. This allows to secure the base OS from viruses, pop-up windows, and so on.
Furthermore, Windows 10 Pro can gain other technologies from the Enterprise edition. For example, there is UE-V — a technology for transferring user settings from one computer to another. Fragments of this technology exist in Pro and Home, but it only works fully in the corporate version. Perhaps someday Microsoft will transfer this system to other editions, as it enables a so-called 'quick launch' of the system with an already prepared set of applications and settings.
Finally, virtualization can be utilized for USB drives, which often contain viruses with auto-run capabilities. If they start in a virtual environment, they will not harm the main OS.
In addition, the company could develop the theme of applications that run from the cloud or another PC. In this case, only a cheap laptop and a communication channel would be needed; everything else would be implemented in the form of streaming. After all, movies and games are already available in this format. Why not work with the same Photoshop?
Of course, this is still just a theory, but perhaps in the future, the company’s engineers will implement some of the above.
