At the end of July, the developers released the long-awaited version of one of the best content management systems — Plone.
Plone is written in Python CMS and uses an application server Zope. Unfortunately, it is not well-known in the post-Soviet space, but is widely used in educational, governmental, and scientific circles around the world.
This is the first fully compatible with Python 3 release, which took more than three years to develop.
Key features:
- Python 3. Support is declared for versions 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8;
- In use Zope 4;
- The REST API has been integrated into the core (previously it was implemented as a separately installable add-on);
- The React-based frontend Volto.
Although Plone is available in many distributions, the developers recommend using the unified installer and images for VirtualBox/Vagrant from the official site.
