The daemon evaluates memory shortage through /proc/pressure/memory and, upon exceeding the threshold, sends a suggestion via DBus to processes to reduce their usage. Additionally, the daemon may attempt to maintain system responsiveness by writing to /proc/sysrq-trigger.
Combined with the ongoing efforts in Fedora to implement and phase out swap usage, low-memory-monitor enhances responsiveness and performance on most workstations. The project is written in C and is licensed under GPLv3. The daemon requires Linux kernel 5.2 or newer to operate.
