It seems that the technology for restoring Windows 10 from physical media will soon become a thing of the past. At least, there is hope for that. In the Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18970 the ability to reinstall the OS via the Cloud.
This feature is called Reset this PC, and the description states that some users prefer using a high-speed Internet connection rather than writing an image to a flash drive (for which at least one more PC is required).
Functionally, this option is similar to restoring the OS to its original state. During installation, there is a warning about removing all user applications and (optionally) data. This can also be an issue on low-speed or limited channels, as you'll need to download at least 2.86 GB of installation files.
It is noted that when reinstalling the OS this way, the same version that is on the computer will be downloaded. So far, this feature is only available as part of Insider Preview Build 18970; it will likely appear in release no earlier than spring of next year.
Additionally, let's remind you that cloud reinstallation is not the only new feature in build 18970. It also includes an updated tablet mode, which is different from the existing one. Although it is available as an option rather than default, it offers certain advantages.
For example, the on-screen keyboard is activated when tapping on a text field, and the distance between icons in the taskbar has increased. Finally, it is now possible not to expand the tablet mode to full screen, allowing access to the desktop.
