Purism has announced the initial shipments for pre-ordered free smartphones Librem 5. The first batch will start shipping on September 24 of this year.
Librem 5 is a project aimed at creating a smartphone with fully open and free hardware and software, designed to ensure user privacy. It comes with PureOS — a GNU/Linux distribution approved by the Free Software Foundation (FSF). One of the key features of this product is the inclusion of physical switches for the camera, microphone, and radio modules.
