This week, on September 10, after two years of development, the next version of the IC layout CAD KLayout was released. This cross-platform CAD is written in C++ using the Qt toolkit and is distributed under the GPLv2 license. There is also a feature for viewing printed circuit board layout files in Gerber format. Extensions for Python and Ruby are supported.
Main changes in release 0.26
- Added layout versus schematic check (Layout vs. Schematic — LVS) and extraction of a netlist from the layout;
- Improved Design Rules Check (DRC);
- Added antenna check for parasitic layout elements;
- Library browser added;
- Bug fixes;
