A study conducted by ESET indicates that the overwhelming majority of Internet users continue to prefer pirated materials.
According to the survey, 75% of users refrain from legal content due to its high price. Another drawback of legal services mentioned by one in three respondents (34%) is their incomplete selection. Approximately 16% of those surveyed reported an inconvenient payment system. Finally, a quarter of Internet users refuse to pay for a license for ideological reasons.
In addition, the survey organizers found out which pirated content is most often consumed by Internet users (respondents could select multiple options). It turned out that 52% of respondents download 'hacked' games. About 43% watch unauthorized movies and series, while 34% listen to music through illegal services.
Another approximately 19% of respondents admitted to installing pirated software. About 14% of users download pirated books.
Only one in ten — 9% — Internet users claims that they always pay for a license.
