As is known, at the recent Surface event, Microsoft introduced a version of Windows 10 for a completely new category of computing devices. This concerns dual-screen foldable devices that combine features of laptops and tablets.
However, experts believe that the Windows 10X operating system (Windows Core OS) is intended not only for this category. The fact is that Windows 10X uses an adaptive shell codenamed Santorini, which will be applied in various form factors.
It has been reported that Microsoft is working on a new project codenamed Pegasus, which aims to add the Windows 10X user interface to traditional laptops and PCs. And although there is almost no information about this yet, it is expected that more details about the Pegasus project will become available after the release.
At present, it can be assumed that this is an analogue of the graphical shell for Linux distributions, 'untethered' from the underlying system. Whether it will indeed look as shown in the image above remains unclear.
It should be noted that the Pegasus project will not replace the current version of the Windows 10 shell, and the new user interface will only receive fresh devices. It is expected that users will receive more information after the first Insider Preview builds appear next year.
