Oracle Corporation the second beta release of the VirtualBox 6.1 virtualization system. Compared to the following changes have been made :
- Improved support for nested hardware virtualization on Intel CPUs, added the ability to run Windows on an external VM;
- Support for the recompiler has been discontinued; hardware virtualization support in the CPU is now mandatory to run virtual machines;
- The runtime has been adapted for operation on hosts with a large number of CPUs (up to 1024);
- The interface for configuring storage and networking subsystems has been optimized;
- A CPU load indicator has been added to the status bar in the virtual machine;
- Multimedia keys have been added to the software keyboard;
- Increased flexibility for importing and exporting virtual machines to OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure). Added the ability to associate arbitrary tags with cloud images;
- Support for 3D has been removed for the deprecated VBoxVGA driver;
- Support for additional texture formats has been added for Windows hosts;
- The ability to change the host-side audio backend while the VM is in a saved state has been added;
- A vboximg-mount utility has been added for Linux hosts;
- VBoxManage now supports moving multiple source files/directories of the guest system to the target directory;
- The EFI implementation has been updated to a newer firmware code, and NVRAM support has been added.
