Nearly 300 million accounts have been registered in Minecraft, and this figure concerns only China.
This was announced at an event by NetEase, the company that publishes Minecraft in the country. Analyst Daniel Ahmad from Niko Partners noted on his Twitter that the game is free to play on PC and mobile devices in China. Thus, there is naturally no talk of sales.
In terms of the world outside of China, Minecraft sales have reached 180 million copies. It is known that the total number of monthly active users is 112 million (up from 90 million in October 2018). The growth of Minecraft in China was rapid. The game was released in the country in 2017 and reached 100 million downloads in less than a year. In the following five months, this number added another 50 million, and the same amount again by May of this year.
According to new data, Minecraft gained another 100 million Chinese players in just six months.
