Enthusiast Jay Doscher developed a Raspberry Pi Recovery Kit that is theoretically capable of surviving the end of the world while maintaining full functionality.
Jay took available electronic components and housed them in a rugged, waterproof case that can withstand physical damage. There is also a protective copper foil enclosure that shields against electromagnetic radiation. Some parts were printed using a 3D printer.
Doscher claims that this computer will likely be the last thing people might find useful during an apocalypse, but someone may find the device handy.
This is already Jay's second build; he assembled the first version four years ago. He regarded the first attempt as unsuccessful due to significant shortcomings. The gadget lacked protection from moisture and dust. Control was managed via a touchscreen since there was no space for a keyboard in the protective case. All the issues of the first version have been resolved in the new one.
