Tails is an operating system that can be run on almost any computer using a USB stick or DVD. It is designed to preserve your privacy and anonymity and helps you achieve that.
This release addresses a multitude of vulnerabilities. You should update as soon as possible.
Changes and updates
- is now used https://keys.openpgp.org/ and https://zkaan2xfbuxia2wpf7ofnkbz6r5zdbbvxbunvp5g2iebopbfc4iqmbad.onion/ as the default OpenPGP server.
- keys.openpgp.org is more reliable than other OpenGPG servers, as it references the OpenPGP public key only when sending an email confirmation to the email addresses listed in that key.
- keys.openpgp.org does not distribute third-party signatures, which are signatures on keys made using another key. Third-party signatures are used to create an OpenPGP Web of Trust.
- keys.openpgp.org prevents OpenPGP certificate overflow attacks, which can render your OpenPGP keyring unusable and cause your computer to crash.

- Updated Tor Browser up to 9.0.2.
- Updated Thunderbird from 60.9.0 to 68.2.2.
- Replaced the TorBirdy extension with custom settings and patches in Thunderbird which provide equivalent privacy.
- Updated Enigmail up to 2.1.3, with a simpler installer that automatically creates an OpenGPG key for new email accounts.
- Updated the kernel Linux to 5.3.9. This should improve support for newer hardware (graphics cards, Wi-Fi, etc.).
Fixed issues
- Restored the option to Show Entered Password in Tails Greeter.(#17177)
- Fixed the error display during the failed GDM module launch. (#17200)
- Restored the option Open in Terminal when right-clicking (on Mac, two fingers) a folder in the file browser. (#17186)
- Installing additional software has become more reliable. (#17203)
