Testing of the first alpha version of the installer for the next significant release of Debian — 'Bullseye'. The release is expected in about one and a half to two years.
Key changes in the installer:
- References to CD and CD-ROM have been replaced with 'installation media';
- In apt-setup, the generation of lines in sources.list for security-related updates has been revamped. The {dist}-updates lines have been renamed to {dist}-security. In sources.list, it is now allowed to separate blocks '[]' with several spaces;
- The installation of the interim package apt-transport-https has been discontinued;
- The creation of the my-at-spi-dbus-bus.desktop file in the user profile has been discontinued (at-spi2-core now always launches the at-spi bus);
- The default host for its own mirrors is now 'deb.debian.org';
- The gfxpayload=keep parameter is set in the bootloader submenu, resolving issues with unreadable fonts on HiDPI screens when booting installation images over the network via EFI;
- Documentation has been converted to DocBook XML 4.5 format;
- In grub2, a definition of modules for signed images for UEFI has been added;
- The package cryptsetup-initramfs is installed instead of cryptsetup;
- The generation of images for QNAP TS-11x/TS-21x/HS-21x, QNAP TS-41x/TS-42x, and HP Media Vault mv2120 boards has been discontinued;
- Support for the ARM board Olimex A20-OLinuXino-Lime2-eMMC has been added;
- The mini.iso now supports network booting in EFI for ARM platform;
- Packages for virtualization system support are installed if detected running in their managed environments;
- The Linux kernel image has added the thermal_sys module;
- The virtio-gpu package for graphical output has been added; virtual machines;
- For the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3, support for DTB (Device Tree) has been backported.
