Recently, Google introduced a feature for sharing URLs to other devices linked to the main one through the Chrome browser and a shared account. Now, there's an alternative.
In the Chrome Canary build version 80.0.3987.0, a new flag named 'Allow page sharing via QR code' has been added. Enabling it allows any web page's address to be converted into a QR code so it can be scanned with a smartphone or sent to someone.
Enabling the flag will add the 'Generate QR code' option to Chrome's context menu, allowing it to be downloaded and sent via email or used on mobile devices. This feature is noted to be useful for both individuals and businesses as it provides a simple solution for accessing websites.
For companies, this simplifies data entry. A QR code for a business's website can simply be printed and displayed on a wall, allowing users to visit the company's site in seconds without manually entering the address. It also enables data sharing bypassing the Google account.
And although this feature is currently only available in the early version of the browser, it is clear that it will soon be included in the official release, possibly even later this year.
