When you're on a phone call and someone else tries to reach you, most smartphones and carriers notify you that you're waiting for a call. However, such notifications have yet to gain widespread adoption among VoIP services.
Now, this feature is available to users of the popular messaging app WhatsApp. It's worth noting that the incoming call notification won't allow you to put the current call on hold. Until recently, WhatsApp didn't notify users about incoming calls at all. Users could only see a missed call in their call log after finishing their current conversation. Later, WhatsApp introduced a notification for callers, informing them that the subscriber they are trying to reach is already on an incoming call.
Now, if you receive another call during your conversation, you will hear an audible notification, and a corresponding text alert will appear on your screen, allowing you to either decline the second call or interrupt the current conversation to start a new one. While the feature seems quite appealing, it clearly lacks the option to place the current conversation on hold. This option is not yet implemented, but it is possible that it will be added in the future.
The new feature is available in the stable version of WhatsApp 2.19.352 and WhatsApp Business 2.19.128. In addition, these versions of the app resolve the issue of increased power consumption by the messenger on smartphones and introduce a fingerprint unlock feature.
