EA had to re-record the narrator's voice for the C&C remaster due to the loss of the original recordings

During the work on the remaster of the popular strategy Command & Conquer, Electronic Arts found that it had lost the original voice recordings of the narrator from the first part of the franchise. As a result, it had to re-record all the lines from scratch.

EA had to re-record the narrator's voice for the C&C remaster due to the loss of the original recordings.

For authenticity, the publisher brought in Kia Huntzinger, who had done the voice-over for the first Command & Conquer. It was her voice that commented on in-game events. EA producer Jim Vessella explained that Huntzinger agreed to work on the project for the sake of the franchise's fans.

"Kia wanted to do this for the fans and approached the recording with passion and enthusiasm. We are grateful for her involvement in the game's remaster and hope fans appreciate her work," Vessella stated.

The company also noted that it will preserve the voice of the original narrator from Red Alert, Martin Alper, who was also the president of the publisher Virgin Interactive at the time. Alper passed away in 2015, and in EA's opinion, replacing his voice with another would be an inappropriate decision.

The exact release date for the remaster of Command & Conquer and Red Alert has not yet been disclosed, but the company planned to release the games by the end of 2020.
