Marcel Kaiser announced the release of the new version of NomadBSD — a desktop operating system based on FreeBSD with the Openbox window manager — 1.3. This version is based on FreeBSD 12.1.
The new version includes:
- Unionfs-fuse as an alternative to FreeBSD Unionfs (due to locking issues).
- An MBR partition table, replacing GPT to prevent issues with Lenovo systems that refuse to boot from GPT unless the 'lenovofix' flag is set or hang during boot if 'lenovofix' is set.
- ZFS installation support has been added to the NomadBSD installer.
- A fixed and improved rc script for configuring network interfaces.
- Country code configuration for the WLAN device, automatic setup for running in VirtualBox, default display check in the graphic configuration script.
- Version 440 of the NVIDIA driver.
