The teams at GOG and ScummVM are excited to present you with a special release — the first digital edition Blade Runner and adaptation of the legendary adventure game for modern PCs. In its time, Blade Runner was an absolute hit and revolutionized the gaming industry. The game offered completely unimaginable gameplay and mechanics for that time (1997), and sold over 800,000 copies. However, Blade Runner was never released digitally, and running it on modern systems was nearly impossible. For decades, the legend faded into obscurity. The fan community spent almost 10 years trying to run and play a build from the original discs, and there were still many compatibility issues. Then the GOG team got involved, along with the ScummVM project. The game was thoroughly tested, bugs were eliminated, and it was adapted for all modern versions of Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Blade Runner from Westwood Studios remains one of the best adventure games in history, but due to the lack of a digital version, it gradually faded from public memory. But today is its time. Thanks to the efforts of the game's fans and the GOG.COM site, it has finally returned to modern PCs.
It's time to remember where true PC gaming began!
