On December 12, the release of QtCreator version 4.11 was announced.
Since QtCreator has a modular architecture, all functionality is provided through plugins (the Core plugin cannot be disabled). Below are the new features in the plugins.
Projects
- Experimental support for Qt on WebAssembly and microcontrollers.
- Multiple improvements in project configuration and build subsystems.
- Using the file API from CMake 3.14 for configuring and running projects. This innovation makes behavior more reliable and predictable (compared to the previous 'server' mode). Especially when CMake is also used externally (e.g., from the console).
Editing
- Explicitly defined colors from KSyntaxHighlighting are no longer ignored
- Configuration of the language server for Python has been significantly simplified
- You can also change the line-ending style from the editor component's toolbar
- Editing QML 'bindings' directly from Qt Quick Designer
