Google has extended the support period for ChromeOS devices to 8 years

Google Inc. has announced on the extension of support for Chromebook devices to 8 years, during which automatic updates will be provided. Initially, automatic updates were released for Chromebook for three years, but this support period has since been extended to six years and now to eight. For instance, the Lenovo 10e Chromebook Tablet and Acer Chromebook 712, released in 2020, will receive updates until June 2028. The reason for the support extension is to prolong the lifecycle of equipment in schools that use Chromebooks in computer labs.
