One of the innovations will be Testing in build 19041, which is rumored to be the release candidate, indicated that this functionality works. Both programs are included in the build by default, but they can be removed and cleared from the Start menu and the list of applications. Similar changes have been made for Windows Media Player.
As noted by the source, removing Paint and WordPad requires a system reboot. After this, both programs will disappear from the Start menu and the list of installed applications. It is still unknown whether similar operations will be carried out in the future for other core programs like Notepad, Photos, etc. However, considering that many people install alternative applications immediately after setting up the system, this approach seems logical.
Let's remind that earlier new drawing capabilities for Paint using the mouse were announced. While it's hard to imagine a scenario where such features will be needed, it's reassuring that the company hasn't forgotten about the program.
It's worth noting that there were previous reports of advertising in WordPad. It remains unclear whether it will appear in the release, and whether it's the reason why a decision was made in Redmond to make the application optional.
