Russian book publishers are suffering losses of 55 billion rubles per year due to piracy, Vedomosti. The total volume of the book market is 92 billion. Meanwhile, the main culprit is said to be the blocked (but not banned) messenger Telegram in Russia.
According to Maxim Ryabiko, the general director of the Internet Rights Protection Association (AZAPI), about 200 channels distribute books from various publishers, including those purchased electronically.
The head of AZAPI noted that 2 million people use these pirate channels, and Telegram itself is one of the largest sources of piracy in Runet. So far, Pavel Durov has not commented on this information.
It should also be noted that earlier, Avito, Yula, and VKontakte have already of distributing pirated content. Similar claims against Telegram last year. Back then, it was mentioned that there were 170 channels, and copyright holders threatened to contact the American authorities.
