Microsoft is developing not only its Edge browser but also contributing to the Chromium platform. This contribution has equally benefited both Edge and Chrome, and currently, the company is working on several other improvements.
In particular, this includes 'percentage' scrolling for Chromium on Windows 10. At this point, all 'Chrome' web browsers scroll the visible part of the webpage by a fixed number of pixels. The new version proposes to change this to a percentage of the visible area, allowing scrolling to mimic the EdgeHTML engine.
This change has already been proposed for Chromium and may be implemented in Google Chrome in the future.
Another new feature will be audio enhancements in the browser. Microsoft is working on audio support for the MediaStream API, which will improve sound quality during calls, meetings, chats, group calls, and more. Similar functionality already exists in Windows, Android, and iOS. The idea is that during a call via a messenger, other sounds are muted. This helps users stay focused during conversations.
At the moment, it is not specified when these changes will be released or even if they will be available in an early Canary version.
