The first mentions of developer kits attached to Intel DG1 discrete graphics cards were found in the EEC customs database. at the end of October last year. By January, it became known that Intel would soon distribute the corresponding graphics cards only among developers. Now, new accessories attached to the DG1 are noted in the EEC database.
In early February, three new items related to Intel DG1 appeared in the corresponding database. A developer accessory kit labeled was listed with the status of 'pre-beta', while the other two kits labeled and already had the status of qualification samples. What these items represent cannot be determined from the records. Even a storage device with software for Intel DG1 discrete graphics samples may require separate certification if it is equipped with built-in data encryption features.
Notably, the numbering of these items has evolved from 12 to 13 for the 'pre-beta' sample since October, and then to 14 for qualification samples.
There is a noticeable increase in Intel's activity in providing everything necessary for developers to adapt their software to the characteristics of the new DG1 discrete graphics. Products of this generation are expected to hit the market by the end of this year, but it cannot be ruled out that it will be limited to the mobile segment. According to unofficial sources, even within Intel, there is still no consensus on the strategy for simultaneously promoting discrete and integrated graphics from the Xe family to the market.
