Microsoft has announced a public preview version of the Microsoft Defender ATP antivirus for Linux aimed at enterprises. Soon, all desktop systems, including Windows and macOS, will be shielded from threats, and by the end of the year, mobile systems—iOS and Android—will join them.
Developers have stated that users have long requested a version for Linux. Now, this has become possible. However, it is still unclear where it can be downloaded and how to install it. It is also uncertain if it will be released for regular users. Next week, at the RSA conference, the company plans to provide more details about the antivirus for mobile platforms and possibly share more about the Linux version.
In the company's blog, it was stated that Microsoft plans to change the cybersecurity market. The goal is to shift from a detection and response model based on disparate security solutions to proactive protection. The Microsoft Defender ATP system offers built-in intelligence capabilities, automation, and integration to coordinate protection, detection, response, and prevention of infections. In any case, all of this is promised to be realized in Redmond.
