The OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones, flagship devices of 2017, have started receiving the OxygenOS update. The current firmware build number 9.0.11 includes several minor improvements and, most importantly, a security patch dated February 2020.
Back in 2018, OnePlus announced that every smartphone produced would receive at least two Android version updates and 3 years of security updates. This meant that new firmware versions for the OnePlus 5T were expected to cease in November 2019.
However, the company decided to include the 2017 devices in the list of smartphones that will receive Android 10. The OnePlus 5 series is set to receive the Android 10 update by the second quarter of this year. Before that, the company chose to release an intermediate update v9.0.11. The update size is about 1.8 GB and will be distributed randomly.
