Delta Chat — a messenger without its own servers that uses email for messaging.
Messages are automatically encrypted using the Autocrypt standard, based on OpenPGP. Opportunistic encryption is used by default, but verified contacts can be created by scanning a QR code from another device.
New features in version 1.2:
- Ability to pin chats
- Non-blocking addition of contacts using QR codes. No need to wait for the verification process to complete for contact verification protocol.
- Integrated email provider database, containing IMAP and SMTP settings, setup recommendations, and known issues.
- Built-in help that does not require access to the official Delta Chat website.
- Translations have been updated, and new languages have been added
- Reduced Android version requirements: now requires version 4.1 Lollipop instead of 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The Android app is written in Java, the iOS version in Swift, and Delta Chat Desktop is currently transitioning to TypeScript. All applications use a common core written in Rust.
