On March 15, the beta version of the distribution was released Devuan 3 Beowulf, which corresponds to Debian 10 Buster.
Devuan is a fork of Debian GNU/Linux without systemd, designed to "give users control over their system by avoiding unnecessary complexity and ensuring freedom of choice in initialization systems."
Changes include:
- The behavior of su has changed. The default call now does not alter the PATH variable. The previous behavior now requires invoking su -.
- If there is no sound in PulseAudio, make sure that in the file /etc/pulse/client.conf.d/00-disable-autospawn.conf the line #autospawn=no is commented out.
- Firefox-ESR no longer requires PulseAudio and can operate using ALSA.
