Few people doubt that the upcoming desktop processors Intel Comet Lake-S will be quite "power-hungry," considering that even the low-power flagship — Core i9-10900T — can consume over 120 watts. Now, the true "appetites" of other T-series processors have also been revealed — Core i5-10500T and Core i7-10700T, found in the SiSoftware database.
The Core i5-10500T and Core i7-10700T processors will be similar to their full-fledged counterparts, except for their clock speeds, which have been reduced to lower power consumption. For all T-series processors, Intel claims a TDP level of 35 watts. However, this value applies only when the chip operates at base frequency (PL1, Power Level 1). Intel refers to peak power consumption as "PL2," which is defined by the SiSoftware test.
The Core i5-10500T processor, like other Core i5s of the Comet Lake-S generation, will offer six cores and twelve threads, along with 12 MB of Level 3 cache. According to the test, the base frequency of this chip will be 2.3 GHz, while the turbo frequency will reach up to 3.8 GHz. The maximum power consumption will reach 93 watts.
In turn, the Core i7-10700T will feature eight cores and sixteen threads, as well as 16 MB of Level 3 cache. The base frequency of this processor will be 2.0 GHz, and the maximum turbo frequency will reach quite impressive 4.4 GHz for such a processor. The higher number of cores and higher frequency have contributed to the Core i7-10700T's increased power consumption of 123 watts. It's noteworthy that the flagship Core i9-10900T consumes the same amount.
As for the performance levels of the Core i5-10500T and Core i7-10700T processors, they are not particularly impressive. The test rated the performance of the newcomers at 135.44 and 151.28 GOPS. For comparison, the six-core processor Core i5-9600K scored 196.81 GOPS in the same test.
