Support for the classic version of Microsoft Edge ended earlier this year when the Redmond corporation transitioned its web browser to Chromium. Recently, developers started releasing new versions of Edge Dev and Edge Canary, in which scrolling of large web pages. This update aims to make scrolling more responsive.
These updates are already present as part of the Chromium project and in the Chrome Canary build (82.0.4072.0). This means that sooner or later, they will be implemented in other browsers based on this engine.
Once the change is implemented, scrolling behavior on "heavy" websites will become much more responsive. As for the timeline, the rollout of this feature is expected to happen this year. The exact date has not yet been specified, as the release of new versions of Chrome has currently been paused due to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
Additionally, future versions of Google Chrome an option to display the full URL instead of a shortened one. However, this feature is likely to take longer than usual to arrive.
