On March 24, Mozilla announced on its blog that Firefox users can participate in testing the "Firefox Better Web with Scroll" service, aimed at a new model for website funding.
The goal of the project is to allow the use of a paid subscription to fund content creation. This is intended to help site owners operate without advertisements. The service is organized in collaboration with the Scroll project.
The model works like this: users pay for a subscription to the service and can browse sites that have joined Scroll without ads. About 70% of the funds received are distributed to site owners, which is 40% more than their usual advertising revenue.
Currently, testing is available only for users in the USA. To participate in the program, a special browser extension must be installed.
