A new version of the graphic editor was released on March 26. Krita 4.2.9.
Krita — a graphic editor based on Qt, previously included in the KOffice suite, is now one of the most prominent representatives of free software and is considered one of the most powerful graphic editors for artists.
A comprehensive, though not exhaustive, list of fixes and improvements:
- The brush outline no longer flickers when hovering the mouse cursor over the canvas.
- Added spray mode, spray frequency for the color smudge brush, and a new setting for the brush shape flattening ratio for the color smudge brush.
- Added the ability to split a layer into a selection mask.
- Fixed the transparency display glitch as a checkerboard on HDR displays.
- Corrected an error where the selection increased in one direction.
- Fixed a bug occurring when using the tracing mode on non-animated layers.
- The limit for Layer Offset has been increased to 100,000.
- Fixed a crash when opening .kra files with an incorrect cloning source.
- Fixed a crash when adding color with the eyedropper to a remote palette.
- Recovered files are now saved in QStandardPaths::PicturesLocation.
- Fixed the hand cursor display issue when there is no painting mask.
- Corrected the logic of parameters in the brush selection dialog.
- Krita's log is now separated from system information.
- In Python, the method Canvas.setRotation has been corrected.
- Using Qt::Popup for the color selection popup window.
- Layers with the alpha channel turned off are correctly exported as 'svg:src-atop' for ORA.
- Added a close button icon for the 'About Krita' dialog.
- Fixed a memory leak in the preset history window.
- Added a warning to restart Krita after enabling or disabling plugins.
- Bypassed a color management error in Qt 5.14, which prevented saving files in PNG format.
