Developers of the project , which replaced CyanogenMod after the project was discontinued by Cyanogen Inc, the release of LineageOS 17.1, based on the platform . The 17.1 release was formed bypassing 17.0 due to the peculiarities of tag assignments in the repository.
It is noted that the LineageOS 17 branch has reached parity in functionality and stability with branch 16, and is considered ready to transition to the stage of creating nightly builds. Builds are currently only prepared for a limited , the list of which will gradually expand. Branch 16.0 has been switched to weekly builds instead of daily. When for all supported devices, a custom Lineage Recovery is now offered by default that does not require a separate recovery partition.
Compared to LineageOS 16, in addition to changes specific to , some improvements have also been introduced:
- A new interface for taking screenshots, allowing users to select specific parts of the screen for capture and edit screenshots.
- The ThemePicker application proposed in AOSP (Android Open Source Project) has been integrated. The previously used API Styles for theme selection has been deprecated. ThemePicker not only supports all the capabilities of Styles but also surpasses it in functionality.
- The ability to change fonts, the shape of icons (QuickSettings and Launcher), and the style of icons (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) has been implemented.
- In addition to the ability to hide applications and prevent their launch through password designation, Trebuchet Launcher now has the option to restrict access to the application through biometric authentication.
- Patches accumulated since October 2019 have been applied.
- The build is based on the android-10.0.0_r31 branch with support for Pixel 4/4 XL.
- The Wi-Fi screen has been reinstated.
- Support for fingerprint on-display sensors (FOD) has been added.
- Support for a pop-up camera and camera rotation has been added.
- The emoji set in the AOSP on-screen keyboard has been updated to version 12.0.
- The WebView browser component has been updated to Chromium 80.0.3987.132.
- Instead of PrivacyGuard for flexible management of application permissions, the native PermissionHub from AOSP has been utilized.
- Instead of the Expanded Desktop API, the built-in AOSP navigation tools using on-screen gestures have been employed.
