The NixOS project has announced the release of NixOS 20.03, the latest stable version of its self-developed Linux distribution, featuring a unique approach to package management and configuration, as well as its own package manager called 'Nix'.
New Features:
- Support is planned until the end of October 2020.
- Changes in the kernel version include – GCC 9.2.0, glibc 2.30, Linux kernel 5.4, Mesa 19.3.3, OpenSSL 1.1.1d.
- Desktop version changes include – KDE Plasma 5.17.5.
- KDE 19.12.3, GNOME 3.34, Pantheon 5.1.3.
- The Linux kernel has been updated to branch 5.4 by default.
- PostgreSQL 11 is now used by default.
- The graphical installer image now automatically launches the graphical session. Previously, the user encountered an open terminal prompting to enter systemctl start display-manager.
- You can disable the launch of display-manager by selecting 'Disable display-manager' in the boot menu.
