Philip Müller announced the release of Manjaro Linux 20.0, a significant update to the distribution project originally developed for Arch Linux, with options for GNOME, KDE, and Xfce desktop environments.
The new version includes the following changes:
- Xfce 4.14, aimed at enhancing user experience through the desktop and window manager. Along with this, a new theme called Matcha has been included.
- The new Display-Profiles feature allows users to save one or more profiles for their preferred display configuration.
- It also implements automatic application of profiles when new displays are connected.
- The KDE edition offers a powerful, mature, and multifunctional Plasma 5.18 desktop environment with a unique appearance that has been completely redesigned in 2020.
- Gnome 3.36, featuring a visual refresh for a number of applications and interfaces, notably the login and unlock interfaces.
- The Pamac 9.4 series has received several updates: expanding package management, the development team has included support for snap and flatpak by default.
- Manjaro Architect now supports ZFS installation, providing the necessary kernel modules.
- The Linux 5.6 kernel is used with a number of changes, such as the latest driver versions available today. Compared to the last release, the installation tools have been improved and refined.
