Almost two years after the previous release 1.16.3, a new version of qTox 1.17 has been released, a cross-platform client for the decentralized messenger tox.
The release contains three versions issued in a short period of time: 1.17.0, 1.17.1, 1.17.2. The last two versions do not include changes for users.
The number of changes in 1.17.0 is quite large. The main updates include:
- Support for persistent chats has been added.
- Dark themes have been introduced.
- A feature to specify the maximum size for files that can be accepted without confirmation has been added.
- Options for searching the message history have been included.
- AppArmor profiles have been added.
- A command-line option to specify proxy server settings before launching has been introduced.
- File transfer events are now saved in message history.
- Magnet links have been made active.
- Separation by date has been added in chat and message history.
- Support for the s-toxcore version < 0.2.0 has been removed. Required core version for building the program is >= 0.2.10
- The tox.me service has been removed.
- The 'reconnect' button has been removed.
- The profile avatar size is limited to 64 KB.
- Many bug fixes for group text chats and group audio calls have been made.
- Stability has been improved: common bugs that led to program crashes have been fixed.
