Today, the scripting language Tcl/Tk is used not only on computers but also successfully ported on the Android platform. However, it is on this platform that all the shortcomings of the file selection dialog tcl/tk (tk_getSaveFile, tk_getOpenFile, or tk_chooseDirectory) became particularly evident.
What are the issues with this dialog? The absence of basic operations with folders/files: creating, deleting, renaming. Don't get me wrong, all these mechanisms are naturally implemented in Tcl itself; they are just not present in the GUI dialog. This is less noticeable in Linux, but on the Android platform, this dialog causes a lot of inconvenience.
As a result, a balalaika was created (this is also how packages/package for Tcl are referred to) tkfe (tk file explorer).
When developing the tkfe package, not only the need for at least basic file/folder operations was considered but also the desire to have an explorer both in a separate window and in a separate frame that the user can place as they wish in their GUI.
The project includes a comprehensive example of how to use the package. Naturally, this dialog can also be used on other platforms. It is also not difficult to port it to Python/TkInter.
