The new version of the Russian distribution Astra Linux Common Edition 2.12.29

LLC "RusBITech-Astra" released distribution release Astra Linux Common Edition 2.12.29, built on the Debian GNU/Linux package base and supplied with its own proprietary desktop Fly (interactive demonstration), using the Qt library. ISO images for download are not available yet, but suggested binary repository and source texts of packages. The distribution is distributed under of the license agreement, which imposes a number of restrictions on users, in particular, commercial use, decompilation, and disassembly of the product are prohibited.

Key changes:

• The fly-admin-ltsp application has been added for creating infrastructure for working with thin clients based on the LTSP server (setting up the server and generating client images);
  
• The fly-admin-repo application has been added for creating custom repositories with deb packages;
  
• The fly-admin-sssd-client application has been added for domain joining to Active Directory using the sssd service, which allows accessing remote authorization mechanisms;
  
• A suite of Astra OEM Installer utilities has been proposed to facilitate OEM installation of the OS by configuring the system on first start (setting the admin name and password, timezone, and installing necessary components);
  
• A service for creating digital signatures for documents and verifying electronic signatures using CryptoPro CSP (fly-csp) has been added;
  
• The fly-admin-touchpad utility has been added for configuring the touchpad on laptops;
  
• A search for items has been added to the "Start" menu and "Control Panel," which works independently of the existence of the corresponding item in the menu;
  
• The implementation and design of tools for grouping applications on the taskbar have been updated, and the ability to close a group of windows has been added;
  
• Customizable grouping of application icons in the system tray has been implemented. A "Minimize All" field has appeared on the right side of the taskbar;
  
• The setting for opening shortcuts with a single click on the desktop has been implemented;
• A setting for enabling vertical synchronization to combat tearing has been added.
• The file manager now displays file sizes in bytes, optimizes working with a large number of files in a directory, allows for working with document templates from the context menu, and provides quick access to external resources (ftp, smb) via the address bar. Improvements have been made for working with SMB resources, including adjustments to how free space is determined for SMB resources.
• The fly-brightness utility has been completely revamped, adding support for PowerDevil and enabling automatic brightness control with a light sensor.
• The security policy (fly-admin-local) now prompts for a password immediately after creating a user account.
• The printer management utility (fly-admin-printer) now allows viewing task and printer attributes, significantly enhancing stability.
• The behavior of the camera application (fly-camera) has been improved when rotating the device.
• The screen orientation utility (fly-orientation) has been redesigned for device rotation, supporting multiple screens, adding sensor calibration, and implementing default orientation selection.
• The login manager (fly-qdm) has experimental support for a new theme.
• The system update interface (fly-update-notifier) now allows postponing update reminders.
• The fly-admin-samba has added settings for working with access control lists, as well as some minor functional changes.
• A new two-factor authentication service has been implemented based on libpam-csp and csp-monitor.
• The fly-xkbmap now allows configuring more than 2 keyboard layouts.
• The mobile session has improved the file selection dialog and enhanced contact handling.
• Adaptation for MIG T10 tablets on x86_64 architecture has been completed.
