As blogger Digital Chat Station has discovered, the company vivo is working on creating its own chipsets. The blogger published images on the social network Weibo of a trademark registration application for the vivo Chip and vivo SoC, filed back in September 2019.
Currently, there are no details about vivo's plans for its chip production business, and it seems too early to say when the first unit will be announced. However, the company's decision to enter this area seems quite logical. Following the introduction of U.S. restrictions on component supplies for Huawei, Chinese manufacturers have started investing more in developing their own technologies to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
Currently, vivo smartphones use chips from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Samsung. It appears that the company will eventually add its own manufactured chips.
