🥇6. The Check Point Maestro scalable platform has become even more accessible. New Check Point gateways

Previously, we mentioned that with the emergence of Check Point Maestro, the entry-level investment in scalable platforms has significantly decreased. There's no longer a need to purchase chassis solutions. You take exactly what you need and add more as necessary without high initial costs (as was the case with chassis). Here's how it's done be viewed here. For a long time, only a few bundles — 6500, 6800, and 23800 — were available for order. This year, Check Point presented new and more powerful Quantum gateway models. As a result, the new minimum bundle with one orchestrator (MHO140) and two gateways (6200 Plus) has become more than twice as cheap! This allows companies of virtually any size to utilize scalable solutions without inflated initial costs. Let's take a closer look at the new models.

Branches and small offices (not suitable for Maestro)

New models have been presented for small businesses and branches — 3600 (datasheet) and 3800 (datasheet). Although these models CANNOT be used to connect to an orchestrator (10G links are required), I still think it's important to talk about them. Compared to previous models (3100, 3200), performance has increased by more than twice, while the price has remained almost unchanged. The main specifications of the new devices are shown in the image below:

Small and medium businesses

Four new models have been released for small and medium businesses: 6200 (datasheet), 6400 (datasheet), 6600 (datasheet) and 6700 (datasheet). Key characteristics are shown in the image below:

All models can be used to connect to the orchestrator. For instance, using the 6200 gateway allows increasing the cluster's "power" from 3.6 Gbps (2 nodes) to 93.6 Gbps (52 nodes) in Threat Prevention mode. For the 6600 gateway, these numbers will be 7.4 and 192.4 respectively. Serious figures.

Large business

Two new models have been introduced for large businesses — 7000 (datasheet) and 16200 (datasheet). Specifications for the 7000 model are shown in the image below:

The cluster's capacity can be increased from 19 Gbps (2 nodes) to 494 Gbps (52 nodes) in Threat Prevention mode.

Specifications for the 16200 model:

The cluster's capacity can be increased from 30 Gbps (2 nodes) to 780 Gbps (52 nodes) in Threat Prevention mode.

Data center solutions

And the most powerful models in the family, models for data centers — 26000 (datasheet) and 28000 (datasheet). Key characteristics are shown in the image below:

). The capacity of the cluster can be increased from the 26000 model 48 Gbps (2 nodes) to 1248 Gbps (52 nodes) in Threat Prevention mode.
The capacity of the cluster can be increased from the 28000 model 60 Gbps (2 nodes) to 1560 Gbps (52 nodes) in Threat Prevention mode. That is, 1.5 Tbps!

In conclusion

I'm sure many will be interested in models from the 6000 series. You can immediately start building a scalable platform on the network perimeter based on them. This will be more advantageous than a classic cluster, both financially and technically. We previously wrote about this. Therefore, if you are just planning to implement a firewall or are considering an upgrade, we highly recommend looking towards Check Point Maestro. There is a high probability that this will be the most optimal solution.
