Latin American Free Software Foundation fully free version — , stripped of firmware and driver components that contain non-free parts or sections of code limited by the manufacturer. Additionally, Linux-libre disables kernel functionalities for loading non-free components not included with the kernel and removes references to the use of non-free components from the documentation.
To clean the kernel from non-free parts, as part of the Linux-libre project a universal shell script that contains thousands of templates to detect the presence of binary blobs and eliminate false positives. Ready-made patches based on the use of the aforementioned script are also available for download. The Linux-libre kernel is recommended for use in distributions that meet of the Free Software Foundation for building fully free GNU/Linux distributions. In the new release:
